My 'New' Antique Sewing Machines

Oh i'm so excited to share with you my "new" antique sewing machines!!!
Aren't they gorgeous!!! I've been wanting an old one for a while now, and I ended up with two!!
I haven't looked into any model numbers yet, it looks like all the parts are there, I think they are ready to sew! Lol. At the same time I found these, my dad found one too! We looked like sewing machine hogs that day we came home from the sale! He got a Singer with a very long arm, his came on a table with the original light and thread holder. I'll have to get a picture of his to show you too!

 They are actually pretty heavy,
so I had to make two trips, and boy did I have the biggest smile on my face through those trips!!

They even came with the cases too!

Who's excited for the holiday weekend?
I know we are looking forward to it. Tomorrow we are going to garage saleing, maybe hit a few antique stores that we normally don't get to go into, there's a farmers market, and local shopping outside. And then we will probably grill some tasty food with my parents/family :) And maybe play a few outside games!
Wishing you a beautiful weekend!!
and
Happy Memorial Day!!!
xo Holly

We have a lovely long Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK too so we're hoping for sunshine as it feels more like November here today. Hope your weekend is a sunny smiley one .. have fun playing with your new machines. Sarah x

  2. Oh Holly, I used to sew on machines like that.........they were amazing for going through lot's of denim and leather........yes, I was a teenager during the 70's! I've only ever used Singers, but I'm so disappointed in their quality these days. You'll never find one of their machines made today around in 50 or 60 years. You really lucked out.

    Hugs,

  3. Do you plan to sew with these? I love them! I have one old White sewing machine for display and it is *heavy* but also very pretty. Have a wonderful weekend. I'll be yard-saleing tomorrow as well ... possibly in the rain.

  8. Holly, I just love your machines! What wonderful finds! I have several of these Singers and love each one. I have two treadles that I haven't sewn on yet but would love to learn how. My mom used these treadles when she learned to sew over 50 years ago. I need to get her to show me how to use them. These older machines are getting harder to find. Keep your eyes out for a Singer feather weight. They weigh about 7lbs and are coveted by sewers. I believe that your black Singer was also nicknamed "The Red Eye" or "Singer Red Eye". You can download owners manual for free from the singer web site. If you have problems locating that site just contact me and I will give you the website address. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and happy sewing!! Holly ps I love your petunias!!!

  9. Lucky girl!!! I was at an estate sale last weekend and they had several singer sewing machines....way out of my price range all were over $100! and I had no way of knowing if they worked and was worried about how much it would cost to fix them if they didn't! I LOVE the aqua color on the one machine!
